April 26, 2009. Yes Koufax is still alive. He was a fellow guest at a wedding I was at last night in Boston. He had a good looking date and he was dancing and seemed to have a good time. As of July 8, 2007, Sandy Koufax was still very much alive. In recent years he has been a special consultant for the Dodger pitching staff.

After retiring from baseball after the 1966 season, the 31-year-old Koufax joined NBC Sports as a member of the Major League Baseball broadcast team. Although Koufax had signed a 10-year contract with NBC to be a baseball broadcaster, he left before the start of the 1973 season. He often felt uncomfortable on camera.
Sandy Koufax lived in a time when sexual orientation was not discussed publicly. But we know he was married twice. His first wife was Anne Widmark (the movie star Richard Widmark's daughter), and his second wife's name was Kim. There are no documented rumors about Sandy Koufax being anything other than straight.
In his final season in major league baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers' lefthander had a 27-9 record and a 1.73 earned run average. Because of an arthritic elbow, he retired after the Dodgers' loss to the Baltimore Orioles in the 1966 World Series.
