There is no rule for how many wins are needed to be in the playoffs. The more wins the better but, the team only needs to be a division leader and therefore automatically given a playoff spot.
When 2 teams have a record not quite good enough to make it into the playoffs, they must face each other in a wildcard game. The winner makes it into the playoffs, and the losers season is over.
In the Major Leagues, the three teams that lead the Division in both leagues will make the Playoffs and the two teams from both leagues with the best record that don't lead the division will also make the Playoffs. Additionallly the two Wild Card teams in the American League will play each other in a one-game playoff and the two Wild Card teams in the National League will also play each other in a one-game playoff. The winner of the American League Wild Card game will continue on to the Division Series in order to play the Divisional Winner with the best record and the winner of the N.L. Wild Card game will also have to face the Divisional record with the best record but in the National League. The Divisional Series is a best of 5 series, the two winners in the A.L. will go on to face each other in the Championship Series and the 2 winners in the N.L. will also go on to face each other in the Championship Series which is a best of 7 series. the lakers most rebounds as a team in a single game in the regular season is 107 and in the playoffs it is 81
No. It is only the overall record that matters when it comes to Division Championships. A team could conceivably win every divisional matchup, yet lose every other game for a record of 6-10, while another team in the same division could lose every divisional matchup, but win every other game for a record of 10-6 and head to the playoffs as the Division Champions (if the other two teams' records were 9-5 or worse). The division games do matter in the case of a tie for the best record in the division, as the head to head record is the first tiebreaker for entry to the playoffs and seeding.

In the 2008-2009 season, the Cavaliers are going to make the playoffs. I'm not sure when this question was first asked, but I am responding in Summer 2005, and I believe they will make the 2006 playoffs. They have made a couple important offseason moves, and I think that will get them over the hump. Remember, at the end of the 2004-2005 regular season, they missed the playoffs by only one game. they won't make it in the playoff this season in 211 because they don't have LeBron James anymore. and they brake the NBA record by losing 24 GAMES. and even the dtroit piston defeated them last week.
