According to en.beijing2008.cn, the official website of the 2008 Olympics, Olympic medals will contain jade for the first time.
Direct Shopping Network entered into a licensing agreement with the US Olympic Committee which allowed DSN to market and sell Andesine gemstones which displayed the 2008 Beijing Olympic mark. The mark was placed within the gemstone through a patent pending process known as "Internal Microprint"
