Figure skating is more popular than Gymnastics in North America,I don't know about the rest.
That's a good question. Gymnastics has all those back flips, but skating has spins. Gymnastics takes more flexibility, but guess what? It hurts getting back up after falling on the cold, hard ice. I think Gymnastics is more natural talent and figure skating is more practice. This is a matter of opinion, not fact, and I'm a figure skater, so sorry if this answer seems biased.
I don't know really know because its up yo you not me. If you try both of them over the summer you can se which one is harder. For me it is figure skating because i havn't done figure skating in a while so I know more Gymnastics mostly because i am really athletic and flexable.
Most people call it figure skating, but figure skating can be referred to as the more vauge term, ice skating.
Figure skating - It takes alot more grace and determination to do figure skating. also, if you do pairs, you may fall alot harder take Jessica Dube for example when Bryce sliced her. Hockey - Hockey is a much more aggresive sport. I think it really depends on what level your in
it matters what type of skating the level and the club that you are skating in be more specific and you will get your answer.
Figure skating is a type of ice skating. It's like asking "Is a Ferrari more popular than a car?" A Ferrari is a type of car. Ice skating includes figure skating, speed skating, ice dancing, ice hockey, any type of activity where you move across the ice on skates. So, ice skating would have more participants because it includes more activities than just figure skating.
Ice Skating is probably more dangerous than roller blading because the ice is hard and you really don't have as much balance as you do on wheels.
Ice skating is more just skating for fun and figure skating is doing spins and jumps Ice skating is any type of skating and figure skating is dancing on ice Whoever put that is wrong! Ice Skating is a sport that just sums up every thing you do on ice... it is a category of all the skating activities on ice! True figure skating is like dancing and spinning (i should know i have won a figure skating Competition!) But it is just a category!
There are a lot of strange figure skating moves. Shoot-the-duck is definitely one, but there are tons more.
Synchro involves about 20 girls skating in unison and doing formations on the ice. Figure skating includes singles, pairs, and dance, involving jumps, spins, and steps. Both are competitive, but figure skating is much more demanding.
ISI stands for Ice Skating Institute. ISI is a figure skating association that focuses on the more recreational aspects of figure skating, yet still holds many local and national competitions, as well as learn-to-skate programs.
