No, 15 isn't too old to start/re-start but its more that it is easier when you have started Ballet at a young age because your body is more attuned to the physical pressures of ballet. But if you have done ballet it shouldn't be too bad and at least you'll have some sort of idea of what you are doing! :D

If you 14 and weigh 170 pounds, then you are too old and fat to dance ballet. Overweight does not mean you cannot dance.

Absolutely NO person is too old to start ballet, unless you are 50+ and unable to move your body in the different positions. There are many pro dancers that started ballet in middle-collage age. Hope i helped(: <3, Marissa

How is Ballet still used and performed today?

Ballet is still very traditional with a contemporary twist added to it. But ballet is still performed traditionally too. As a dancer I like contemporary ballet best. The basics are still used in contemporary ballet and lyrical dance. Lyrical is a much more modern version of ballet with a little bit more expression.

Is 16 too old to become a ballet dancer?

16 may be a bit too old to become a professional, but if you want to dance for fun then, no 16 isnt to old!! Many people start even older than that. (Late 20+) You will have an atvantage because you're old enough to understand what your teacher will be teaching and you will be able to comprehend everything! If ballet is what you want to do then go for it!

What is the difference between ballet and modern dance?

Modern Dance and BalletThere are numerous differences between modern dance and ballet. Classical ballet as we know it today has developed over 100s and 100s of years. It has become a very specific technique that requires much patience and hard workfor both the student, professional, and teacher, similar to a concert pianist or a famous writer. Modern, or 'contempory' dance, is relatively new in comparison to Ballet. This does not mean the structure or difficulty is any less. Specific techniques have been developed over the past 100 yrs or so that began originally to rebel against the poise and formal structure of classical ballet.Modern can be danced with or without ballet shoes, but rarely do modern dancers use pointe shoes. The rebellion against classical in part was inspired by dancers wanting to be more 'earthy' so pointe shoes were too 'etheral'. Both the style and music are fundemental differences between the two. Each have thoughts that have inspired dancers/choreographers to express themselves through the art of dance in different ways. For example, ballet tends to "turn their feet out" and "point their toes." But in modern dance, anything goes, since they can be earthy, they can walk heel, toe. But in ballet you, normally, walk on your toes. Modern or Contemporary dancers can flex their feet when they kick, classical ballet normally looks down on that.Ballet is more demanding on the body, modern dancing is more free...In ballet you have to work more on posture, turn out, core strength,When you get to a certain level you start pointe work.....It is easier to go from ballet to modern, than from modern to ballet....Ballet also gets you great legs, and better posture.... ballet is better for you and your body... but modern is more fun, and less stressful....

Is a 13 year old girl that weights 114 pounds and is 5'4 of height too fat to dance ballet?

You can't be too "fat" to dance ballet. Taking lessons would be a good discipline and could help you slim down if that's what you desire. Health matters most, not weight!
