In the NBA, a player has 6 fouls, so this must be a high school or college game.

If so, points should definitely not be deducted. That would be punishing the players who scored the points. Never deduct points, but instead, reward the other team. Give the team of the player who would not leave a technical foul, allowing the other team to shoot a free-throw.
