It was conceived by the Canadian paraplegic players and was originally called murder ball
it was made years ago
It comes from rugby, where a player has to literally touch the ball down in the end zone for the score to count. American football -- which evolved from rugby -- originally required players to touch the ball down, too. The rule was eventually eliminated, but the name of the score stuck.

Originally circa 1823 in the UK Football (soccer to then US readers) and Rugby were on game. The Football Association was formed and the rules for carrying the ball made outlaw. Those who liked this aspect broke away and formed "the Rugby Union" and since that date the two games have been seperate
It was made of pig skin stitched in panels and had a pigs bladder inside which was inflated. The first rugby balls were NOT shaped as we see today but were nearly like a soccer ball
A Rugby Ball. there are no other names for it
Its called "A Rugby Ball" simple as that - There are different manufactures of these balls but they are all a rugby ball
The first football was made by Richard Lindon in 1851 and another unknown man, both were shoemakers (the ball was originally used for rugby) they made it by sewing cow hide and leather around a blown up pig bladder.
The football was round at first like an ball, but i don't know how it became the shape it is today! The ball used in American football was modeled after the rugby ball. Rugby originally used a round ball, but it gradually flattened out into an egg shape, which allowed for easier handling and carrying. The rugby ball was at this stage of development when American football came along. The modern rugby ball is still a little fatter than the modern football and more rounded at the ends to allow for good bounces on dropkicks. After the forward pass was legalized, the American ball gradually became skinnier and pointier at the ends. These design changes made the ball more aerodynamic and easier for the thrower to handle.
