It depends if you're going for a long shot with power or a short shot with power. I'm going to assume you're going for the long shots. Take about 5 steps back at a 7 o clock angle to the ball. Take 3 quick, tiny steps then take a really fast run up. When you're about 2 normal steps away, thrust out your non preferred foot and place it next to the ball. Put all of your power into the swing of your leg both back and forward and strike the ball with your laces, or the sweet spot above your big toe. Make sure your head's above the ball. Follow all the way through with as much power as you can (appropriate to distance)

that should turn out a pretty good shot, in theory. But it needs a heap of practise.
