You can't just "become" a flyer/flier in Cheerleading. Most flyers/fliers are small and or short. You must know many stunts like a liberty, bow and arrow, scorpion, arabesque, and many more. You must work hard on your flexibility also.

Becoming a flyer for cheerleading usually can only happen if your small or short or if your flexiblie. but if you ask your coach then they will let you fly usually. Sometimes you can become a flyer if there are lots of big people on your team. I know a girl and she's not small but she flys, things can happen :) But when you are a flyer, you have to know how to be tight in the air, by locking your knees, and legs, and squeezing., and not letting you leg pop out of place. So work on your flexibilty,by holding a straddle sit and doing your splits can help. Good Luck :)

Well like they said you can't really do anything to become a flier.
You have to be somewhat thin and short.
I am a flier myself, and no offense so to anyone else, but I think it is way more fun than being a base.
I mean you get to be height in the air and it feels great!
But if you are 5' 7" or something.. I wouldn't expect to be a flier even if you are skinny.
I mean it might happen but most likely not.
They pick the tiniest girls to be fliers.
Ashley: That's not true..mainly you have to be thin, yes, but I know girls on my squad that are like 5'7 and they are great flyers! But yes you do need to be flexible....
I am also tall and I would like to become a flyer on my cheer team too. It really does not matter how tall you are, it matter how strong the rest of the team is. I am not a flyer yet, but i would like to become one next year. To help my chances...
I stretch for my scorpian, bow and arrow, heel stretch, and scale. I also use a balance board (called the Maeflyer) so i can practice being up in the air.
Another way to get a better chance of flying, is to tell your coach you are intrested in flying. Since I will most likely not be a flyer next year on my team (since i am tall, i will probably be a backspot again), I plan to talk to my coach about doing a stunt group to compete with at some competitions, that way i can still get the opportunity to fly:)
Good Luck!!!!
PS. I did not mean to delete the other person's answer, I thought that this would be a new answer altogether (sorry) it depends if your flexible
I don't see whynot
A female flyer in cheerleading is the person at the top of a mount or usually called a pyramid.
A flyer is the person being lifted/thrown into the air when in process of do in a stunt she/he is one out of 5 girls and one of the most important ----
Umm... I think you're confused. You can be both. Flyer are the person flying in stunts and tumblers do all of the flipping. You can do both
Acradle is a dismoutn from a stunt where the flyer is tossed and caught in the seated position
It doesn't matter how much you weigh. It depends on if you have good balance and if you have strong enough bases. I know because I am a cheerleader and I have been a back spot base front spot and a flyer for cheerleading. You just need teamwork and strong cheerleaders!:)
A basket toss is a cheerleading stunt in which three or more bases toss a flyer into the air.
a build is when there are five people a front spotter a back spotter two bases and one flyer.
Two bases, a backspot, a frontspot, and a flyer. So, 5 in all.
Being anything in cheerleading is a good thing. You are privileged to be doing cheer as a sport because it takes a lot of hard work and determination to be anything in cheer. Being a flyer, everything is put on you to make all the stunts look really pretty by keeping a tight shape and locking out your knees and arms. Being a flyer you don't have to do a lot of the work just the icing on the top. Without the flyer there would be no stunt.
By practicing every day to improve and become a level 5 cheerleader
The secondary base, in one-legged stunts, does not support most of the flyer she provides support to the middle of her foot.
