Quarterback sacks are commonplace in the NFL even with all of the extra rules in place to protect the quarterback. The title of most sacked quarterback has gone to a variety of men. In 2009 it was Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. In 2010 it was Jay Cutler from the Chicago Bears. 2011 saw Aaron Rodgers once again hit the ground the most. He was followed by John Elway of the Denver Broncos in 2012. Finally in the 2013 season Ryan Tannehill of the Miami Dolphins was the most sacked.
Coming into the 2008 season, Donovan McNabb had been sacked 299 times in his career. The most sacks in a season came in 2000 when he went down 45 times. He was sacked 44 times in 2007 and 43 times in 2003.
Daunte Culpepper retired after 2007 but came out of retirement in 2008 to play for the Detroit Lions.
