The CFL was formed in 1958 with the following teams: Western Conference - British Columbia Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Eskimos, Saskatchewan Roughriders Eastern Conference - Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Rough Riders, Montreal Alouettes
six teams make the playoffs. The top team in the east and west division get a by to the west or east final.
The teams that share a name between the NFL and CFL are the Detroit Lions of the NFL and the British Columbian Lions of the CFL.
The Edmonton Eskimos? Nope. The Eskies have 13 Grey Cup victories, all since 1954, but the Toronto Argonauts have 16 wins, going back to 1914. Ten of the Argo wins came between 1914 and 1952, including a threepeat in '45, '46 & '47. The Green and Gold do, however, have the most Grey Cup appearances, with 22. And I'm not counting the 2 losses in 1921 and 1922, because it was not the same team, just a team with the same name.
2 And it's Toronto and Bc
The two teams that come from Alberta are the Calgary Stampeders and the Edmonton Eskimos.
