I guess it may depend on what level the teams are playing. I'm not sure about college, high school or younger kids.Professional soccer teams can have ''no more than'' 11 players on the pitch at any given time; but a team ''can'' play with fewer men on the field if necessary and if the referee/official decides to allow play to continue.I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think 8 men on the field is the minimum a team can have...again, at the official's discretion.Answerfor out door most highschool games and up it is 11v11 but u can hace at least 7.. I'm not quite sure. for indoor it's normally 6v6 or 5v5 plus the goalies. Their are also 3v3 tournaments, etc.
Each team starts with 11 players and are allowed to use a maximum of 3 substitutes, therefore the maximum total number of players in one game is 24.
There are 16 players in a field hockey team - 11 on the field and 5 substitutes. There is no limit on the number of substitutions allowed during the game, and they can happen at any time except during a penalty corner.
