Amir Khan won the silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in lightweight boxing. He did not knockout any of his opponents but the referee did stop the contest in two of his bouts. When the referee stops a contest in Olympic competition it is the same as a technical knockout in professional competition. In his first bout, he defeated Marios Karperonis of Greece in the third round when the referee stopped the contest. He then defeated Dimitar Stilanov of Bulgaria on points. In the quarterfinals, he won over Jong Sub Baik when the referee stopped the contest in the first round. In the semifinals, he won over Serik Yeleuov on points. In the gold medal match, he lost to Mario Kindelan of Cuba on points.
