They changed the playoff format in 2020 and now there are 7 teams from each conference. The #1 seed in the conference gets a bye and they added an extra wildcard team.

∙ 8y agoIn each conference, 6 teams will make the playoffs. They comprise of the 4 division winners, and 2 other wildcard teams who have the best records out of the rest of the teams.
