It means holding the ball for longer then supposed too. Usually 3(three) or 5(five) seconds, depending on what the situation is and who is the umpire. Sometimes it is 5(five) seconds for primary school games, 3(three) seconds for normal games.
it means you had control of the ball more than once. If you have to tap the ball before taking control of it, then make sure your hand is on the side, not the top. Otherwise umpires may see it as possession and may blow you up.
Long story, but heres the rules...
