Strange question. What you need in order to be a BMX rider is to be able to ride a BMX. If you want to be a professional you need to be a very good rider. An education is always good to have. If you manage to become a pro it will help you understand what's in your contract. If you don't make it you'll have something to fall back on. If you get hurt, and have to quit riding, it'll also come in handy to know how to do something else.
