Usually an average major league pitcher throws around the high 80's low 90's but you got pitchers like Felix Hernanadez that can throw about 94 mph and then throws a curveball about 81 mph. And Tommy Hanson for the Atlanta Braves averages about 92 mph so lots of pitchers have different averages but they have one thing in common they're really hard to hit.

Don't ask us why there's an extra 6 inches. There's 90 feet to every base yet 60 feet 6 inches from home plate to the rubber on the pitcher's mound. Go figure.

'Change up' is another name for a 'slow ball'. Where a fast ball may be thrown around 90 or so MPH, a change up would be thrown in the 75-80 MPH range. It is thrown with the same motion as a fast ball and is used to fool the batter into swinging early at the pitch.

The seam on the basebal (the stitching) causes drag/friction, this has a resonance thus produces an audible pitch (no pun intended).
One is thrown slow and the other is thrown fast.
