75 kilometers per hour
The iditarod should run for ever as it's man and animal working together in there highest form. Alaska would not be Alaska with out sled dogs.
it all depends on the dogs they could go realy slow or realy fast.
Try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogsled_racing Has lot's of links perhaps you will get lucky. But from the quick read I did the weight may depend on the number of Dog's. Hope This Helps.
Usually "Hike" or "Mush" to get them to go.
No, only male sled dogs race so therefore females can not go into labor while racing.
The father of the iditarod is Joe Redington and the mother is Dorothy Page:)
The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race first ran to Nome in 1973, after two short races on part of the Iditarod Trail in 1967 and 1969. The idea of having a race over the Iditarod Trail was conceived by the late Dorothy G. Page. In 1964, Page was chairman of the Wasilla-Knik Centennial and was working on projects to celebrate Alaska's Centennial Year in 1967.* http://www.iditarod.com/learn/history.html

you stop playing club penguin
Each owner is different. The best thing to do is to read some books that have been written on the Iditarod race. They will tell you lots about what these owners/trainers go through with their dogs such as the breeding, care of, feeding of, & how they care for their dogs during the race.
They run all year and slowly increase their distance and speed each time they run. ( they are still using a sled to pull the musher)
That size sled runs about 65 to 75 mph.
