It depends on how fast the game is being played. If you are considering playing Field Hockey, I would not recommend you to, if you were only concerned about how much running is involved rather than the actual play of the game. It also depends on the position. The halves would probably cover 10-11 km, and the backs doing about 7-8 km. The forwards do less distance, maybe 5-6 km, although more of it is sprinting. The goalkeeper does very little distance, about 2 km, but they do very short, very quick movements around the circle. These are averages for a midgrade team, but international players might do more than twice these distances.
