Rowing as in the sport of crew, tends to be pretty expensive to be a part of. The positions made with the body and shear physical effort exerted requires immense amouts of training for the average person, so you need a qualified coach (which costs money). You also need a boat to row in... which are about as expensive as a car... a single rower's boat costs about $7,000 (and that's without anything fancy on it) and 8+ boats can cost $40,000. Then you have to pay for a place to put the boats (ie. a boat house because they will not fit in your garage), and insurance for the boat, in case you would crash.... Yes it is an expensive sport.
