Players are either on the field or batting. there is a 1st base man, 2nd base man, 3rd base man, shortstop, pitcher, catcher, right field, center field, and left field. The base men have to either step on the base or tag the player to get him out.

See Related Links below for more information.

In a nutshell, here is how it is played:

There are nine people who play on each team at one time. The pitcher's job is to throw the ball somewhere near home plate and hope the batter cannot hit the ball, and if he can hit the ball, he wants to make the batter hit it to one of his fielders.

The batter's job is to hit the ball in an area where no fielders are able to get to it quickly so that the batter can run to each base (there are 3 bases and home plate). The bases are the only places that the runner is in safe territory. Anywhere else and they can be tagged out. The next batter's job is to try to hit the ball the same way, in hopes of getting any runners out on the bases home safely to score a run (point).

That's the basic rules of Baseball. Runs are only scored if a runner steps on home plate safely without getting out.

There are nine innings in a game. Each inning consists of six outs. Each team gets three outs per inning. At the end of the ninth inning, the team with the highest score wins the game. If the game is tied, they will go into "extra innings," or the tenth inning. The game continues until one team has a higher score at the end of the inning.
