By the end of the 1930's he killed over 30,000 Marxists and/or people he feared within the Soviet Union. They feared of him taking over Europe. Joseph Stalin was the one (along with government) that decided to put up the Iron Curtain. The Iron Curtain was a border line separating East and West Germany. Peasants were not aloud to cross it because Government didn't want Eastern Germany to see the many rights that other countries had.

∙ 12y agoHe ruled through fear and his secret police, who would arrest anyone for any misdemeanor, no matter how small. He also instilled the Great Purge, which got rid of anybody who might challenge his rule, including people from his own political party.

∙ 13y agoStalin was a dictator of Soviet Union and he ran the it with an iron fist. He built a canal connecting Moscow with St. Peterburg and in the process 25,000 of his people died. If he decided he needed a certain skill he would arrest the person, put them in a camp, and work them to death. Millions died under his rule. Not even were his friends safe from him.
