Yes, he does. A batter is walked as a result of gaining four balls, or bad pitches. After getting four balls, they are allowed to walk to first base.

If a pitched ball hits the ground first then strikes a player is the call a ball or a walk?

it is a hit by pitch (or a walk).Clarification:The answer above makes it seem a HBP and a Walk are the same -- they are not.. they are scored different and effect stats different. If the umpire calls it ball 4 and says it never hit the batter the ball is still in play and the batter gets a Walk -- If the umpire determines the ball hit the batter, the batter gets a HBP (hit-By Pitch) and it is a dead ball --- runners advance their one base but cannot advance furtherIn your question -- even though the ball hit the dirt, once it strikes the batter (assuming the batter never swung), this is a Hit-By-Pitch

What does it mean when a baseball batter walks?

When a baseball batter walks it means that they received four pitches that were called balls by the umpire. The official term is base on balls. They call it a walk because the batter walks to first base. You only advance one base at a time when there is a walk. That means if there is already a runner on first base when the batter walks, that person advances only to second base. There is also an intentional walk where the pitcher intentionally throws four balls in order to put the runner on first base. This is used as strategy.

If there was NO wild pitch and the batter receives a walk can he advance on to second base before the next pitch?

Not unless the next batter gets a walk as well. Runners can only move on base hits or walks.

Can a hit batter advance beyond first?

No the ball is dead as soon as it hits the batter, no runners may advance more than one base.

If a cather misses a third strike bunt can the batter advance to first?

The batter can make an attempt to reach first, but if the ball is fouled off by the batter, the batter is out (strike out).

What would get you a walk in baseball?

If the pitcher throws four "balls", the batter is awarded first base (a "walk"). Sometimes, the batter is intentionallywalked as a strategic move. And if the pitcher hits the batter with a pitch, the batter is awarded first base, although that is not usually called a walk.

When does a ball occur?

A ball occurs when the pitcher throws a pitch outside the strike zone and the batter does not swing at it. Should this occur four times during a plate appearance, the batter is allowed to advance to first base on what is called a base on balls, or walk.
