The above answer is completely wrong, you don't necessarily have too have good aim but you do need to understand angles, very much like you do in billiards. So if you can throw a ball straight and are good with angles and trajectory then you can play cuponk.
I play it with a regular ping pong ball and cup and am pretty good but it took me a while to get good so all you have to do is practice
