There are currently three racing games guaranteed to come out for the Nintendo 3DS. They are Ridge Racer 3D, Mario Kart 3D and Asphalt 3D. If you are more interested in street racing then get Asphalt 3D. The other two games are more traditional racing games.

This isn't really a toy but video games would be something that they both enjoy. It may not be the same type of game. Example: boys may like driving, violent, bloody, and fighting games- while girls may like more girly games I guess.

In my opinion, boat racing is more dangerous. There are more auto racing crashes each year, but far more walk away uninjured from auto crashes than boat racing crashes.
There are two parts to this answer. One, you need your racing license, which is different than your normal driving license. Two, you need to get a good track record in your minor racing leagues in order to move up the chain and get involved in more racing leagues
