i disagree with the above answer, the Capitals are far more superior and will in fact crush the lowly Pens.
Of course they can, especially now. Even with the loss of Gonchar to Ottawa, they now have a better defense than they did last season. Michalek, Martin, Letang, Goligosski, Orpik, potentially Hamhuis, and other minor leagers stepping up - most likely Lovejoy. It's looking like they are now up their with some of the best defensive groupings in the NHL.
