Depending on what sport and who and how much they get paid. outside of the very elite athletes, e.g Usain Bolt (who gets lots from sponsorship), no, most have to have other jobs. basically almost everyone from the Olympics gets a reasonable fee, but most will have to work after their careers, but outside of that top bracket, all will work after and during! Professional athletes get paid obscene amounts of money. With collective bargaining, most of them, even a lowest paid members of the team are considered upper class. Let's face it, if you took $2 million and put it in reasonable investments, you could have $100,000 a year for the rest of your life. These guys are getting paid a lot more than that! And we won't talk about how much the owners of the teams get paid. I think there ought to be a cap on all player salaries.

Supply and demand. As long as people are willing to pay great athletes top dollar, then great athletes are going to want as much money as they can get. It's like asking are actors paid too much money? Are CEOs paid too much money? As long as people are willing to pay as much money as people want, people in all professions are going to ask for as much money as they can get.

In my opinion yes, because they just play sports. I mean i play soccer, just cause their good doesn't mean they should get SO much money. But it mostly depends on a persons opinion. Do you think they get paided to much? This isn't really a good question if it depends on someones opinion.

Definately not. They are very entertaining and millions of people go to watch them. But mainly athletes. They are not overpaid. Their whole lives they've dedicated to working as hard as possible to become who they are. its not just natural talent. They devoted everything to it and not many people can say that.
