Where is that record from? In Sydney about 4 10yo boys (including my son) would go about 5.20 - and 3 of those 4 have only just turned 10.

My son at age 10, ran the mile in 5 minutes and 32 seconds in the "President's Challenge Physical Fitness Program" at his school.

That's pretty quick. In Sydney there would be say four 10yos who run 1500 in around 4.50 - which equates to a mile in 5.10-5.15. That's really motoring.

Cameron Everts of Kempner, TX ran 6:05 at the toughest 1 mile in Texas on 7/10/10 . He was only 8 years old!!

Dunlap Grade School had a school record of 6 minutes and 13 seconds.

On May 3, Sam Royce is 10 years old and ran the mile in 5 minutes and 41 seconds, breaking the record by 32 seconds.

On October 26, 2014, Matthew Stratton of Orange Park Florida ran a 5k time of 19:02 in the 5k Pumpkin Run in Jacksonville Florida. Race can be verified at 1stplacesports.com. There is not an Olympics for ten year olds but at your school you may want to talk to your coach about keeping the times for the mile run and then having a record for the fastest of both boys and girls.

I assume you guys are in the States. In Sydney about 5.20 is the top level - there'd be 4 kids running around that right now. And most have only just turned 10.
