I am 12 and I run about 11 miles per week. I am a little sore but I end up being fine. I run 1.25 miles and cross train on Sunday, cross train on Monday and Tuesday, do 10 100-meter sprints Wednesday, rest Thursday, 6 miles run Friday, 3.1 miles and cross training on Saturday.

I belive a 12 year old should be able to run over 3 kilometers and further. if not and he wants to get fitter he should start by 1 kiometer and every second day build up the load.
it depends what u think u r capable of See I am also 12and can run about a mile to 2 miles. but you should never over do yourselves. If u get to hot stop and get a drink. hope this helped:)
