The race has started in downtown Anchorage since 1983. The teams leave the start line at the corner of 4th and "D" at two minute intervals, starting at 10 a.m. It ends in Nome, Alaska. Every other year the trail is switched depending on if the year is even or odd, but it always starts and ends at the same spot!

NOTE: It's actually just a ceremonial start in Anchorage. The next day there is a restart on Willow Lake. That is when the real racing begins.

* Extra Note* I think that they should have the Iditarod on the Tv... but that's just me.
