Michelle never won first place (the gold medal) at the Olympics. At Nagano in 1998 she took the silver medal (second place) behind Tara Lipinski of the USA. At Salt Lake City in 2002, she took the bronze medal (third place) behind Sarah Hughes (USA) and Irina Slutskaya (Russia). She was supposed to skate at the 2006 Olympics in Torino but withdrew close to the competition with a hip injury.
