Rifles were first made in Germany.
Like almost everything else, they used to be. Now some are made in the US, some are made in Europe, and some are made in Asia. Some are made over-seas and assembled in the US. Additionally, Winchesters are really US Repeating Arms company, licensed to use the Winchester name. Actual genuine Winchester Rifles produced in the 1960's in the US became very poorly made firearms after 1964. When you opened the levers (actions) and shook them, they rattled like a loose rock in a tin can. The levers sometimes wouldn't even lock securely back into place (we're talking BRAND NEW rifles!). They were not built to close tolerences and were assembled in a sloppy manner. Sales dropped...and the business went over-seas. Just like cars...quality dropped...and products were built BETTER over seas.
Oliver Winchester made the first Winchester Rifle(repeating)
If you are asking when the first guns were made they were first made in China during the 13th century for use as a signal. Springfield rifles were among the the first breech loading rifles in1865.
The lock is made first and then a key which will move all the levers/pins into the correct position. http://www.precisionlocksmiths.uk.com
Your winchester model 1894 was one of the first 500 rifles made by winchester in 1911.They made 46,200 rifles that year.
These excellent rifles are made in Turkey.
My catalogue states that the rifle was made by Mossberg (Model 320-321) Mossberg made a variety of single shot and repeating bolt action rifles starting in the 1930. they were low-priced and were intended for extensive use. However it does not state when they stopped making these rifles. About 30 different models were made.
Oliver Fisher Winchester acquired Smith & Wesson company which at that time was better known as the Volcanic Repeating Arms Company in June 1850. He then relocated the company to New Haven, Connecticut. He renamed the company New Haven Arms. He had a engineer named Benjamin Henry who redesigned the rifles they were producing. Benjamin Henry and Oliver Winchester came up with the "Henry Repeating Rifle" that was a .44 caliber rimfire(meaning the cartridge was struck on the rim by the firing pin). The patent was put in Henry's name on October 16, 1860. The company was then renamed the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The first rifles made by the company with this name were the model 1866.
Sheridan did first make air rifles in the 1960s. ---------------------- New answer--------------------------- The above answer is total wrong. Sheridan started making air guns in 1945 and the first rifle was the model "A" made in 1947.
Almost every country makes rifles
