With jacketed bullets, 158 gr and heavier, I get 1.5" groups at 100 yds. The earlier micro-groove barrels were abysmal with cast bullets so Marlin switched to a more conventional rifling design. I have shot both style of barrels and both shoot very well with jacketed bullets. With hand-loads I have gotten groups as small as 1" using a 4X scope.
