Para Ordnance is a Canadian held corporation that is not publicly traded. Para produces great guns. Often shooters purchase a gun and then have several tweaks done to them to shoot at a competition level or for concealed carry. Many Para's comes with the 4 most common features out of the box. Lowered and flared ejection port, checkering and great trigger system. Personally I wouldn't want a pack a carry gun that is modified much (maybe smoothed trigger or ramp) as a lawyer would show that you are just a gun nut making changes to cause additional pain and suffering. Para's LDA (light double action) makes a great carry weapon as the trigger system is a smooth and consistent pull, meaning if it goes off you meant for it to. Long enough pull yet the same pull throughout. Many weapons pull much harder towards the end of the stroke just before it breaks. This often causes the average shooter to tip the gun down with the additional force required. Also Para was one of the first to offer several models in a double stack. Having 13-15 rounds in .45 I don't feel compelled to carry a second magazine. Finally, I know that many gunsmiths use a Para frame to build customs guns from as they are reliable & engineered well. Every Para Ordnance gun comes with a lifetime guarantee. I have encountered one problem (with the 5 guns I own) with a fiber optic sight and everything was corrected immediately without charge. Great guns!

The Ordnance Survey is called so because it was originally created by the British government's Board of Ordnance in the 18th century to map out strategic locations and military defenses. The term "Ordnance" refers to military supplies, weapons, and artillery used by an army.
