From Canada synchronized swimming, or water Ballet as it was known in its early years, moved to the United States. The sport received its first big boost in 1934 when it was part of the World's Fair in Chicago. Shortly afterwards, the United States Amateur Athletic Union recognised the sport and national championships began. By 1948 synchronized swimming was a exhibition sport at the Olympics, but it was forced to serve an extended apprenticeship. After five appearances as a non-medal sport, synchronized swimming made its full Olympic debut at Los Angeles in 1984.

A lot of people do synchronized swimming. It is a sport that involves intense training and work ethic, a variety of athletic skills (incredible endurance, flexibility, strength, control, will power...) and artistry; but it is also a sport that involves alot of teamwork. some do it for the comraderie, some for the workout, and some train for years and years to become some of the top swimmers in the world, to be able to do things that are otherwise impossible to those who don't train their 10 hour days.

If you like to swim, but you like to swim with a group you should probably do synchronized swimming. Also, if you like things to be organized and in order, you should probably participate in synchronized swimming.
