Tom Blake virtually began the surfing lifestyle as we still know it today.While living in Santa Monica,Ca. Blake worked as a lifeguard ,swimming instructor,even as a stunt double. Blake also set a number of world open water swimming records.In 1926 Tom started building his own surfboards, and was the first to ever to patent and manufacture the first production surfboard.Blake was the inventor of the first hollow surfboard.Then Tom Blake would change the world of surfing for ever by inventing the surfboard,Fin A.K.A. Skeg .One of the first to own a Blake surfboard was Sam Reid. Together Tom and Sam, would become the surfers ever to ride."The most famous surf spot in California today". In September of 1926 they were the first surfers to ride the waves at Malibu Beach. By 1930 Tom was living full time in Hawaii. Between 1965 and 1985 Blake traveled with the seasons living in Malibu and the California and Arizona Deserts.
