If your ability is such that you are only good on wooden ones then yes but for most people fiberglass is faster. Both fiberglass and wooden boards suck, you should try either E-glass or Texilum boards, go to your local surf shop and ask if they have any Zap boards.

I really don't know Ollie. Are you a beginner, a kid, an adult, what are your interests? Wood skimboards are typically for kids and beginners who want to learn or get a taste for skimboarding. If you want to find out more about wood skimboards, you can contact http://www.victoriaskimboards.com. Otherwise, you can also contact Chuck at http://www.oakstreetsurf.com and discuss what you are really looking for.

Skimboards are typically made from materials such as wood, fiberglass, or foam. Wooden skimboards are often crafted from layers of plywood for durability, while fiberglass boards feature a foam core wrapped in fiberglass for a lightweight and sturdy design. Some advanced models use composite materials for enhanced performance and flexibility. The choice of material can affect the board's buoyancy, speed, and maneuverability.
