- Actually, this was NOT the FIRST message sent. Obviously, by the time of the Titanic sinking (April 1912), the Marconi wireless were an industry standard and had been in widespread use for years.

The first message across the English Channel was in March 1899, the content by some accounts was, 'Are you ready?"
