First of all, in swimming, there are no routines. There and practice drills and events. The practice drills are in practice. Some are, Double Arm Backstroke, Y Stop Breastsrke, Biolateral Breathing Freestyle, and One Arm Butterfly. The events are in swimming meets. Some are, The 100 Yard IM, 50 Yard Backstroke, 200 Yard Freestyle, and 25 Yard Breastroke. There are TONS more events and drills that I could list.
Swimming was first held at the Commonwealth Games at the first-ever Edition in 1930. The program consisted of 11 events (6 for men and 5 for women). Joyce Cooper (England) won four of the five Women's Events: 100 yard freestyle, 400 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke and 4x100 yard freestyle relay.
Mine is about 1:55.00.
Pointers: Keep your head down, kick hard, move arms fast, limit breaths, good start and flipturns. If you are doing a 200, with awful turns, you will be bad.
The women's record for the 500 yard freestyle swim is held by Katie Ledecky with a time of 4:24.06 set in 2018.
There are many types of relays in swimming. The two main categories are Medley Relays and Freestyle Relays. A medley relay consists of 4 swimmers, with each swimmer doing a different stroke (Backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, freestyle). A freestyle relay consists of 4 swimmers, with each one swimming freestyle. A 100 relay would mean that each swimmer is going for 25 yards/meters. A 200 relay means 50 yards/meters each and so on. Sometimes relays are referred to as "four by (length)" relays. So a 400 yard freestyle relay consisting of four 100 yard freestyle legs would be called a "four by 100 yard free relay" and so on...and so on also swimming is an awsome sport!!!!!!
At the 2008 Games in Beijing, Michael Phelps of the United States won gold in the men's 200 meter freestyle in a time of 1:42.96 and Federica Pellegrini of Italy won gold in the women's 200 meter freestyle in a time of 1:54.82.
there wasn't a 50 meter freestyle event in the 1964 Olympics. Only 100 meters.
