you get put into randomly chosen heats. each heat goes out and surfs each person being marked for each of their waves out of ten, ten being the perfect ride. once you are standing, that is immediatley counted as a wave. at the end your session, the best 3 waves get added up and they put you in 1st 2nd 3rd etc. if you come 1st/2nd ur through to the next round with the other finalists and it carries on in the same way until their is one winner.
