If youre a beginner than you can do the soldier float which is laying on your back with your arms to the side. There is tug float which is getting ready to do a cannonball dive into the water.There is also jellyfish float where you bend and float while holding your knees.
There is also something called treading water which helps you float upright without holding anything.All you have to do is do the doggy paddle upright.
