it will work for a while, but when the crack becomes larger, the amount of wax in it will be not enough to prevent water leaking in. This allows water to get into the board(even if the wax is in the crack) and will eventually become water logged. Go to your local surf shop and buy a bottle of sun cure. It is only like $8 for a small bottle(but can go a long way). This is a cheap and inexpensive way to repair your board because you apply the sun cure. There are you tube videos on how to do it or you can ask one of the workers at the shop.
