Most salt water organisms will not survive long in fresh water. The differences in temperature, pH, Salinity, and the amount of O2 in the water would not be the same as in the environment they once came from. And so I mention the chlorine that in commonly found in swimming pool water, it also would hurt the organism. But this is not an instant dead for a shark. The size of the organism and how tolerant it is to different environments would effect the organisms inevitable demise. Depending on the species of shark and the size of the difference of the waters, I would personally have to guess anything from a day to maybe four days till you find your shark friend belly up.
No, it can't survive in a pool, it needs room to swim. If a shark stops swimming it dies. But, it can survive in a big aquarium like in sea world.
