Most children only really start taking swimming up seriously at 10, so, as a swimmer, it is much more important for a child to peak at a later time in his/her swimming career. so thus, if you are a parent do not put to much pressure on your child at such young ages. If the children are forced to swim very hard and are punished for not doing well in a gala or swimming event at 10 or so, i bet you that they will begin to hate swimming and most likely stop doing it as a sport before high school.
