Switzerland are towards the bottom of the European countries at Water Polo.
The European Chamionships are organised with 11 - 12 teams competing in the A Championships, with the top 6 competing in the final Tournament. This is scheduled for Lugano later in 2009.
The next 12 teams compete in the B Championships, with the last tournament ocuring in Manchester in 2007. Switzerland didn't qualify for the B Championships - during the qualifying games Switzerland:
* beat Austria (8-6) * lost to Ireland (9-10) * lost to Montenegro (3-30) Montenegro did win the overall championship to be promoted to the A League
In terms of women's water polo, Switzerland just recently finished 8th (last) in the 2009 European Championship finals losing all 3 games and finishing with a -37 goal difference
