Generally, swimming is a year-round sport with no set season. However, their are a few differences between the winter season and summer season. If you notice, during the summer Olympics, swimming is held in a 50-meter pool whereas in the winter (in the United States, this is the college swimming season) swim meets are mostly held in a 25-yard pool.
