The Devils entered the NHL in 1974 as the Kansas City Scouts. They played in Kansas City until the 1976-77 season when they moved to Colorado and became the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies played for six years in Colorado before moving to New Jersey for the 1982-83 season and became the Devils.
