As with all sports and pastimes no accurate figure of fans is known or ever likely to be.
With cricket it would certainly be in the billions - India and several countries around it make up around half the worlds population. Cricket is the most popular sport in these countries.
Cricket was initially started by Britain (now UK/England). Because in the late 17th Century Britain started to capitalize over other Countries. Like mostly African Countries..(SA,Zimbabwe,Kenya,Uganda and many more..)..South Asia (India and other small countries)....and Oceania (Like Australia and New Zealand). So they spread the Cricket to all their Colonies.
Hence from late 18th Century cricket played only in Few European Countries (Ireland,Holland,Scotland)...Oceania (Australia & New Zealand)..South Asian Countries (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh)...And few African Countries (SA,Zimbabwe,Kenya,Namibia).
There are about 16 nation playing regularly International Countries.
And off course their people like it.
Because India has 2nd Highest Population in the world...about 1.5 Billion.
Australian, England, Africans, South Asian Countries and off course all over the countries there are Indian and other countries people.
So Estimate is about 35% population of the world like Cricket.
Why 35%? because the largest population of world in China has no Cricket.
Thought now its being developed over so many other countries including China and US. ...
So in future the percentage may increase.
if anyone has doubt or other queries please do let me know
