My dad bought this shotgun for me when I was 16 years old which would have been in 1961-62 era.
Depending on which model and gauge, I have bolts. It will be very difficult to find the 12ga bolts from models 583.1-583.21, since Sears has been recalling them and paying good money for the last 10 years or more.
This is a strange shotgun to price. Sears issued a recall on it several years ago and offered $160 if you sent them the bolt.
The JC Higgens, model 103.229 bolt action .22 dates back to the mid to late 1950s making it close to 50 to 60 years old.
That shotgun was made for Sears by High Standard- it is their Flite King model. It was made from about theearly 1960s for about 12 years. Nice shotguns, BTW.

A JC Higgins .22 caliber rifle, model 103.229 is about 55 years old as of 2014.
The Winchester model 1901 shotgun was made between the years 1901-1920.
The j.c. higgins model 103.228 was made in the early 1950s. Most likely in 1950 as the 103.229 model was made in 1951.
I got mine 3 years ago. Looks almost new. Great gun for rabbits and pheasants. I paid $100 and am really happy with it.
