"Eccentric" is only in the eye of the beholder. Most people in the US consider soccer a childrens' game and are amazed to see it a multibillion professional sport elsewhere, with Spain being a major contender. Spain also has an active Rugby union, which as a sport is unknown in the US, replaced there by its Frankenstein monster stepchild, American football.
"Typically" Spanish sports are Basque Pelota and Valencia Pelota, indoor handball sport where a small hard ball is hit with great strenght with the bare hands of the players. Only Holland has something akin to it in its northern provinces, where it is called Kaatsen.
Roller hockey is also typically Spanish although other Latin countries play it as well.
